Half Marathon training started TODAY!


So SUPER excited, I got my new jogging stroller. I have been really wanting to get back to running but with 2 kids it seemed like a lot bigger task. But I finally got it together and picked out the stroller I wanted (after much research). And found an awesome deal.


I got the 2015 Baby Jogger Summit X3!



And I LOVE it!





Took it for a spin today with my girls. And surprisingly they did great! Mar wasn't to happy about being strapped in (I never made her in my old stroller). But with a little snack bribery, she did alright. We had to stop a few times and had some fun at the park but I was worth it to get out and run a little.


But man...pushing a stroller with 2 kids gets heavy!


So my plan as of right now is to run 3-4 days a week and x-train the other 2-3 days a week. Doubling up on a few days to have rest on the weekend.

I committed to doing the San Diego Rock n' Roll Half Marathon in June 2016 with my aunt. And now one of my cousins and possibly my sister in law wants to join me. Which makes it undeniably happening for me. But I couldn't be happier. Sometimes its others that really help you push to do something you wanted to in the first place.

I am also thinking of maybe doing a few 5K/10K's before that. Thats where I stumbled a cross a Tinkerbell Half Marathon  in May, and thought that Mar would just love that.

She's super into Tinkerbell right now, and will hopefully still yet year!

Countdown to 30


That's right Countdown to the BIG 3 0!

When I was pregnant I told myself that after I had Callie (my second daughter) That I was going to get back into shape before I turned 30. And not just get back into shape but get into the BEST shape of my life. 

So here we are, a little less than 3 months away from turning 30!



Not only am I turning 30 but my husband and I just booked tickets to Hawaii for our first trip as a family of 4. We are going to be spending the week of my birthday at the Disney inspired resort Aulani.

Mar is going to love it! We have already been getting her excited. She started swim classes in preparation and she knows we are going to see Micky Mouse in Hawaii. 

That means I have roughly 80 days to get into shape. 


So now the pressure is really on! But that's okay, it seams like it's easier to get thing accomplished when I am busier than not. So my crazy schedule helps me carve out the time for "me" so I don't lose my mind as a stay at home mom.


MY PLAN:

  • Drink Shakeology EVERYDAY
  • No refined sugar
  • Meal plan and prepare for the week on Mondays
  • Drink more water
  • 30 minute workout EVERYDAY! Insanity Max:30 M-F and walking/jogging on weekends
  • NO STARBUCKS (for me this is big, I'm a bit of an addict) You know whats sad I have my plan for my first one after all this time. It will be in the airport on our way to hawaii. As long as the terminal has a Starbucks in it. Heaven forbid it doesn't, I know for a fact that the hotel next to Aulani has one. I know, I know...it's sad!

5 Great sources of vegan protein


Quinoa

Most grains contain a small amount of protein, but quinoa—technically a seed—is unique in that it contains more than 8 grams per cup, including all nine essential amino acids that the body needs for growth and repair, but cannot produce on its own. (Because of that, it's often referred to as a "perfect protein.")






Nuts and nut butter

All nuts contain both healthy fats and protein, making them a valuable part of a plant-based diet. But because they are high in calories—almonds, cashews, and pistachios for example, all contain 160 calories and 5 or 6 grams of protein per ounce—choose varieties that are raw or dry roasted. Nut butters, like peanut and almond butter, are also a good way to get protein, says Penner: "Look for brands with as few ingredients as possible—just nuts and maybe salt," she says. "Skip the ones with hydrogenated oils or lots of added sugar."  


Beans

There are many different varieties of beans—black, white, pinto, heirloom, etc.—but one thing they all have in common is their high amounts of protein. Two cups of kidney beans, for example, contain about 26 grams


Chickpeas

Also known as garbanzo beans, these legumes can be tossed into salads, fried and salted as a crispy snack, or pureed into a hummus. They contain 7.3 grams of protein in just half a cup, and are also high in fiber and low in calories.
Chia seeds

These seeds—yes, from the same plant that's used to make Chia Pet products—are an easy way to add protein (4.7 grams per ounce, about two tablespoons) and fiber to almost any rec ipe: Chia seeds can be sprinkled over salads, stirred into yogurt or oatmeal, blended into smoothies, or they can take center stage: They plump up and take on a gelatinous texture when soaked in a liquid, forming a rich and creamy pudding-like treat.

Getting ready for 21 Day Fix Extreme

So lately I haven't been eating so great. I could blame it on a thousand things, being pregnant, super bowl...the list goes on. But really it's because I haven't had structure! So today I decided that that was all over. I will be committing to the 21 Day Fix Extreme program (with modifications for my pregnancy) So I thought I better start this week with the regular 21 Day Fix meal plan.

So here it is!

So I do a separate one for my husband for a few reasons. First, he is ridiculously picky. (but he insists it me), plus he is super busy on the go all the time. So I make him things that are easy to eat on the go. Secondly, he is in a different calorie bracket them I am.

And YES! You're right this is not 100% true to the fix meal plan. I like to use Newman's Own dressing. But there is a really good fix dressing to make if you want to be on point.

But there it is my plan for getting back on track and ready for the 21 Day Fix Extreme test group!
