Success with your New Years resolutions!

Don’t turn your New Year’s Resolution into a Two Week Resolution by making extreme changes all at once. Instead of transforming your entire lifestyle in only a few days, set up a plan that requires you to build and grow throughout the year. You have 365 days, so pace yourself!

1. Restrictions Make You Rebellious
A lot of resolutions focus on what you WON’T be doing or eating as of January 1st. However, forbidding yourself from everything you love is a recipe for disaster. We are all human, which means we need to be able to enjoy a cheat meal or a night out every once in a while. If you’re going to resolve to eat healthy in 2014, then try keeping a food journal instead of restricting yourself to certain foods.
2. Avoid the “All or Nothing” Approach
While some people embrace the “go hard or go home” lifestyle, I wouldn’t recommend using it for a New Year’s resolution. Why? Because lifestyle changes are not easy to make, and they won’t always go according to plan. If you set impossible goals for yourself, then you’re more likely to slip up and fall completely off course. I recommend making small, sustainable changes one at a time to avoid any backward progress.
3. Make it Personal
I want you to sit down and think for a second. What’s caused you the most stress or unhappiness this year? Was it an unhealthy relationship, an aspect of your personality, or the fact that you’ve gained some unwanted pounds? Whatever it is, that’s what you should focus on for 2014. Your resolution doesn’t need to be cookie cutter, or even explainable to others. It just needs to be something that will impact the quality of your life.
4. Write it Down & Hang it Up
It’s easy to forget about the bigger picture amongst the craziness of your daily chores and activities. This is why you need to create some sort of “Resolution Reminder.” If your goal is to have a six-pack by summer, then post a picture of someone with rock-solid abs on the mirror in your room. It’s amazing how powerful a subtle reminder can be!

Insanity Max:30 is HERE!

Calling all Fitness Enthusiast!

Do you love FITNESS? Did you know you could make a great living by working out, sharing your tips and eating clean. All while staying home with your kiddos. I'm only taking 5 new coaches for my upcoming training. Now's the time, make some extra money for Xmas and look hot for New Years!

8 Tips for Staying Fit During the Holidays

  1. Don't skip meals-- especially breakfast. Eating regularly keeps your metabolism going and prevents you from getting to that “I'm Starving, I'll eat anything in site!” point.
  2. Focus on the People you are with, not the food.
  3. Watch those liquid calories-- those can really add up!
  4. If you slip up and eat a box of donuts with a delicious grande coffee-flavored cup of hot sugar, don't throw in the towel for the rest of the day. Every single snack and meal is a new opportunity to make a healthy decision!
  5. Eat a protein-filled snack before heading out to dinner or a party. Try one of these 100 calorie options:
    1. A cup of yogurt or low-fat cottage cheese
    2. Twelve almonds
    3. Low-fat, low-sodium deli turkey or chicken
    4. Half an apple with half a tablespoon of peanut butter or almond butter
  6. Get up and exercise first thing in the morning. In as little as 30 minutes you can get a in great workout. You can even do it in your living room without having to venture out into the cold. You can either have RESULTS or EXCUSES, not both.
  7. Lift weights! The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn while you're sleeping-- True story.
  8. Speaking of sleeping: Make sure you are getting enough rest! When you're sleep deprived, your hormones get all out of wack, making it really difficult to lose weight. Basically, you SNOOZE you LOSE (weight).

How to eat healthy while dining out!

Most restaurant foods are packed with sodium and fairly unhealthy. You best option is to cook at home, but if you are dining out, there are ways to help make the best of it!

1. Make smart choices
Almost every menu contains chicken or fish cooked in a healthy way. Look for words like "grilled," "broiled," or "steamed," and avoid "sautéed" and "fried."

2. Skip the appetizer
By definition, an appetizer is intended to get your appetite going. But when some appetizers contain more than 1,000 calories, that's not an appetizer—that's a full meal and more! If you do want an appetizer, ask your table if they'd be willing to split one of the healthier options like a salad, bruschetta, ceviche, or anything that's light on sauce and heavy on fruits, veggies, or lean protein.

3. Eat a saladGreens are also a great option, but not all salads are created equal. Stick with salads that don't contain mayo (in other words, avoid the tuna and chicken salad), and ask for the dressing on the side. This way you can add your tablespoon or two, instead of having your salad drenched in it.

4. Side dishes in your mouth mean sidecars on your thighs
At many restaurants, the "side" is a baked potato, fries, or coleslaw. What does that equal? Unnecessary calories. If you'd like a side, request the salad (dressing on the side), fruit, or steamed veggies, even if you don't see them as an option.

5. No bread
Don't eat the bread. Does it taste good? Sure! But instead of eating something because it's in front of you, swap those empty calories for something you'd actually enjoy.

6. Eat half
Over time, American portion sizes have enlarged to gargantuan sizes. Restaurants often provide you not with one serving of pasta, but with as many as 4 or more. But if you have a hard time not cleaning your plate—after all, the food does taste good—request that the waiter split your order in half before they bring it to the table. That way you can enjoy your dinner as lunch later in the week.

7. No sodaIf bread is bad, soda might be worse. That's because it's easy to consume massive amounts of calories fast. And don't even think about going the "diet" route. Those artificial sweeteners aren't healthy, and they can lead you to crave more sugary substances. Talk about a lose-lose! If you want something other than water, ask for unsweetened iced tea. It's calorie free, so you can drink as much as you want!

8. Dessert
Oh, our favorite part! Granted, some restaurants use restraint, and focus more on unique flavors than on quantity, but if you're out with friends at the type of place where the dessert has more calories than your meal, and they insist upon ordering it, suggest the table split it. Then take a single bite and put your spoon down. It's not about denying yourself, but about making smart choices. If you're still craving something sweet when you get home, enjoy some yogurt and berries or a piece of fruit.

Busy mom work out tips

How do you fit your workout in to your busy schedule?

The same way you fit everything else in!
I know everyone is busy with the duties on motherhood. Sometimes I don't have enough time in the day to shower let alone workout! At least that was my thinking before I decided my health was going to come first. Besides; a happier ME, makes a happier family!

You've got to make it a priority, and schedule it in your day. And there is days I still don't take a shower (I know it's gross) but... I workout. Because that is more important to me. And...all the showers in the world aren't going to make me feel better if I'm not happy when I look in the mirror.

So #1. Plan it! Remember this little quote...

#2. Work out with your kid(s)!

If you child is at one of those ages where you can strap them in a stroller. Its perfect! You can jog or just walk. And for you fellow stay at home moms, it really great to get out of the house and breath some fresh air. LOL

#3. Ditch your gym membership

Some people love the gym and thats fine but it didn't work out for me after I had my daughter. So the good ol' at home work out's is where it's at! And if you think you cant get a good workout from home. I DARE you to try Insanity. You will sweat like you never have before.

#4. Wake up early!

If waking up early is the only way you will be able to get a work out in. Set that alarm!! And when it gose off with god and the chickens your mind is going to give you a million reasons why you dont have to get up or you can just do it later.

Success takes time!

There is NO quick fix!
NO magic pill!

If your looking to get healthy and look great, you have to remember it dosen't happen over night!

I want to share this story of an AMAZING friend that started my fitness journey with me at the beginning of 2014. He has had an incredible transformation from weighing 335 in January 2014 to now 255.

It took hard work! Dedication! And a will to succeed!

In December my husband and I decided we were going to do Insanity for the new year and we asked if Jacob, who is our roommate, wanted to do it with us. He thought about it for a while and decided he was going to go all in. The first couple week were hard for all of us (those that have done Insanity know exactly what I'm talking about) But we all stuck with it and at the end of 90 days Jacob was really seeing some good results. So he set up a weight room and started lifting. He was eating 5-6 meals a day, and completely overhauled his life style.

Just recently he completed the 21 Day Fix and starting drinking Shakeology. During his 21 Day Fix he lost 15lbs!

The pictures below shows a year difference.

Since January he's lost 80 LBS!!!
So a BIG CONGRATS to Jacob!

If your in need of a little guidance or motivation and accountability please contact me. I would love to chat with you and make a plan of action to get you healthy!

Tips for staying on track during football season

Football season is one of the worst for me!

With the beer and appetizers.

So here are a few tips to stay on track during football season!

First: Pre-eat before party's.
This will be the most important step to not giving into temptations. When your hungry, you tend to make way more bad decisions that if you were full.

Second: Bring a veggie platter!
Even if they didn't ask you to bring anything. Its just going to be a nice jester, and mite save you in a SNACK ATTACK!

Third: Drink responsibly.
And with that I mean, don't throw all your hard work away with a single drink. (easily done) Below is a recipe for a great cocktail that wont undo your GREAT week!
If you cant bring it with you than plan ahead. Remember: Failing to PLAN is planning to FAIL!

You’ll need:
1-2 bottles of crisp white wine, I used 1 bottle Sauvignon Blanc and 1 bottle of sparkling Vino Verde
2 ripe local peaches, sliced
1 pint raspberries
2 kiwis
several sprigs of mint
Stevia, I used the liquid kind

(If you need it a little stronger add a cup or two of vodka)

Simply add the sliced fruit and mint to the wine and add several squirts of stevia until desired sweetness is reached. Let sit for at least an hour in the fridge to let the flavors infuse. In the summertime it’s also nice to freeze half of the fruit and add right before serving so they act as ice cubes in the Sangria.

These are the things I want to share with YOU!!!! Anyone can do this job! I maybe had 100 friends on Facebook when I started, I wasn't a social media expert and I was the furthest thing from a health or fitness professional. I just knew I wanted to help others (which in hindsight they ended up helping me) and that I was meant for something more.

But going from an Office Administrator and having my own paycheck to do what I pleased with, to a stay at home mom was a BIG change. It was defiantly what I wanted. I've LOVED every second staying at home with my sweet baby girl. But I needed to be more than just the mom and chef and housekeeper. (Little secret: I hate cleaning!) So thinking about it, homemaker was OUT! I wanted to make money and contribute to our family financially.

Healthy Halloween snack you can make with your kids!

What you'll need:
  • 4 bananas
  • 24 chocolate chips, regular sized and/or mini
  • 4 tangerines
  • 1 stalk celery

Preparation

  1. 1. Peel the bananas and cut them in half. Place the cut side down so the banana halves stand up.
  2. 2. Use small chocolate chips to make ghost eyes and large chocolate chips to make ghost mouths.
  3. 3. Peel the tangerines.
  4. 4. Cut the celery lengthwise into thirds and then across into 1/2 inch pieces. Insert the celery pieces the tops of the peeled tangerines to resemble pumpkins.
